Because there were two couples in the same area, with the same name, at the same time, and with the same occupation, it is not possible to determine which person this is. The selection was made based on circumstantial evidence. Although both Donalds seemed to change occupation, this Donald may have stayed in the Drummond - Miltown area, whereas the other seemed to stay in the Blackhall area. In 1802, Donald was a shoemaker in Drummond. In 1803, he was still in Drummond. By 1807, he was in Milntown, where he is also found in 1810. In 1812, he was a "mealer" in Milntown. 83547	Thomas graduated from St. John's College and obtained his M.D. degree from the University of Maryland. He went to Rushville, Schuyler County, Illinois, around 1837. In a letter that he wrote to his sister, Rebecca, he said that he did not like Rushville and missed his family. This must have been written before he met Annis Hinman, his future wife. Most of the letter admonishes Rebecca to devote more time to religion. Thomas served as a medical officer with an Illinois regiment in the Civil War.
