Died:
James was killed in an airplane crash in Lake Erie very close to Pelee Island. He was on the way to the Cleveland Air Races when the airplane developed engine trouble and crashed into Lake Erie where the three men on the plane drowned. Observers of the crash reported that the pilot, James S. Munro, had climed on the tail section of the plane to level it off before it hit the water.

The funeral service for James was held at the First Presbyterian Church in Detroit, Michigan.

James married Bertha Anna Leverenz in 1926 in Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan, USA. Bertha was born on 3 Nov 1908 in Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan, USA; died on 28 Feb 1955 in Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
