Notes:

Lieutenant Charles Monroe was Provost Marshall of the City of Beufort, South Carolina while the Union troops occupied that locality during the Civil War. He was wounded 18 May 1864 and was killed 3 June 1864 at Cold Harbor, Virginia.

He was Moderator at the annual March meetings of Livermore for 28 years. He is listed among the Selectmen, Assessors and Overseers of the poor for many years.
