Abigail was familiarly known as "Aunt Nabby". She was noted for her sharp tongue and ready charity. They settled on a farm north of Simon's father, but finally moved to a farm adjoining that of his father.
Simon and Abigail had no children of their own, but successively adopted their nephew, Jason H. T. B. Whitcomb (Newell), Eliza Carr and Isaac Wilkins.
