    The following was written in the Monroe Family Bible reference:

    «i»George Monroe, son of A.W. and E. Monroe died April 20, 1849 about half after 9 A.M. aged 2 years 11 months & 3 days. 26 hous sick, supposed to be Wormy or croup. He was a very handsome smart boy. «/i»

    Died:
    Ambrose died at 3 am. His disease commenced with dysentery in Jul 1849. When he recovered from that, he had a fever and ague with which he was afflicted occasionally until about a month before his death. The fever turned to dropsy which proved fatal. Ambrose and his brother, George, were both "beautiful and interesting boys".
