In 1870, William is found on the Newton County, Mississippi census in the household of his older sister, Sarah. In 1872, he moved with Sarah's family to Texas where he settled with them near Canton, Texas.
He is not found on the 1900 Van Zandt County, Texas census with Elizabeth and the children. It is presumed that he died before 1900.

After his mother died, William and his brother, Luther, moved to San Angelo, Texas where they ran a store.
He and his brother had both died suddenly by 1943. Their uncle, Jefferson D. Monroe stayed on and ran the store until he took ill.

William Osmond Monroe owned Monroe Seed Store on Concho St. in San Angelo, Texas. Per the 1880 Census, Precinct 4, Harrison Texas he was the son of William Saffold Monroe (Head of Household). He is listed on the 1900 Census in Wills Point, Van Zandt, Texas. In 1917, he lived in Tom Green County, San Angelo, Texas, and also lived there per 1930 Census. He married Alma Holiday French in 1923. In the 1940 Census, he lived in San Angelo, Texas with In-laws.
William married Alma Holiday French on 27 Jan 1923 in Tom Green County, Texas, USA. Alma was born on 13 Nov 1893 in Tom Green County, Texas, USA; died on 12 Feb 1973 in Redondo Beach, California, USA; was buried in San Angelo, Tom Green County, Texas, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
