Lucy was educated in the Mineral Point, Wisconsin schools.
Because both Lucy and her husband died young, their children were raised by Lucy's brother, William, and his wife, Mary Jane (Beebe).
Lucy had twins in 1841. Peter died in infancy. Perhaps Lucy and Peter both died at the same time. Robert was anoxic, never married and died in the Monroe Township insane asylum although he may not have been insane. He may have lived there because he was disabled.

The following is an excerpt from al letter written on 4 May 1851 by Harriet to her uncle, William, who was in the California gold fields at the time with her father.
Mr. Lewis took a notion to go to California and we had to come here [to the home of Mary Jane Beebe Monroe] and stay with Aunt perhaps stay here until you and Pa come back. [Her father died in California and didn't return. Harriet was raised by her aunt and uncle.]

Robert never married and died in the Monroe Township insane asylum where he had lived for at least 10 years. He may have been there because he was disabled instead of being insane.
