    Notes:

    Doris M. Munro-Keating, a Navy nurse during World War II, died Thursday at Mercy Anderson Hospital from natural cuases. The Pierce Township resident was 76.

    Mrs. Keating was stationed at Mare Island Naval Base in San Francisco, where she served aboard the Arthur Middleton, a hospital ship. She helped transport sick and wounded sailors and military personnel from Pearl Harbor Naval Base to Mare Island.

    Mrs. Keating grew up in Hyde Park. She attended St. Mary grade school and Mount Notre Dame Academy, and graduated in 1944 from the Good Samaritan School of Nursing.

    She joined the Navy as a registered nurse and served until 1946.

    She returned home and worked at Good Samaritan Hospital.

    Before the war, she met her future husband, C.J. Keating. They had a date at Moonlight Gardens to see the Glenn Miller Band.

    The two rekindled their relationship after the war and married in 1947. Mrs. Keating continued to work until the birth of her first child.

    "She was proud of being a woman and having served in the Navy," said her son, Rich Keating of Anderson Township.

    Other survivors include her husband; sons Neil Keating of San Rafael CA, and Tim Keating of Nevado CA and six grandchildren.

    Burial will take place at Graceland Memorial Park in Milford.
