1. | Duncan Munro Bethune, Of Ivybank was born about 1815 in Of, Ivybank, Nairn, Scotland; died on 18 Sep 1870; was buried in Nairn, , Nairn, Scotland. Notes:
Duncan served as Lieutenant Colonel, 1st Battalion 9th Foot. He joined the regiment in 1834 when it was under orders for India. He served with it throughout the Afghan War of 1845, and was present at the storming of the Khyber Pass, and at the battle of Istalef.
He was on the staff of General Sir John MacCaskill, at the battle of Moodkee on 18 Dec 1845 when General MacCaskill was killed. Duncan was also present at the battle of Ferozesham on 1 Dec 1845, and at the battle of Labroan on 9 Feb 1846.
He later served in the Crimea, before Sebastopol. For his many distinguished services, he received the Order of the Medijih with several medals and clasps.
