Joseph was the 5th child of Benjamin. He left home at an early age. He is said to have died at sea soon after his marriage to Phebe.

Error alert: According to the dates given in references, there are only 111 years between the birth of Joseph's birth and that of his grandmother. This leaves an average of 55.5 years each for the two generations preceeding Joseph. Such a thing is possible, but unlikely.
