    During the Civil War, Thomas enlisted in the 28th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Volunteers. He fought in many of the major battles of the Civil War including Antietam and Gettysburg. He was commissioned in the latter stages of the war and was wounded twice.

    Using the Wetterau Family tree on Ancestry.com, we were able to see source records for Fannie. The tree lists Fannie as an adoptee based on her birthdate being in 1864/65.

    Records on this tree indicate this is not the case. The 1880 census lists Fannie as the daughter of Alexander and Caroline at 9 years old. The 1900 lists a separate Fannie as a servant. The same 1900 census lists Caroline as having 4 births and 4 living children.

    This indicates that 1880 Fannie and 1900 Fannie are two different people.

    Kermit was born in Drums, Pennsylvania and lived his entire life there, although in his later life, he spent the summers in Sun City, Florida.

    He operated Reisenweaver's General Store in Drums until 1950 and then became the postmaster in Drums, a position he held for 24 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in St. Johns; the church choir; past-master and secretary for F&AM Lodge 687 in Hazleton; the Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg; Irem Temple, Wilkes-Barre, commander of Hazleton; officer in the Knights Templar, Hazleton.

    He was also a member and officer of the Gideons of Hazleton; past-president and current member of the Drums Lions Club; member of Memorial Society of Drums; secretary of St. Johns and United Church of Christ Cemetery Association; and held membership in the Berwick Country Club from 1960 until his death.
