IX. GEORGE MONRO, sixth of Bearcrofts, who was born about 1780, and adopted, like his father, a profession of arms. He held the rank of Captain in the 42nd, or Black Watch, served with it in the Peninsular War, and was killed at the taking of Badajoz, 1811.
