"Andrew was killed at Statine for beating a Burgess there."

"Andrew executed at Stettin 1631 was 'Capt Andrew Monro Ferne he Sonne' - Ross and Mackenzie confuse him with nephew Andrew."

Andrew entered the army and went with Robert Munro of Foulis to the German wars. He proved his valor several times in battle, especially at the siege of Fraile-Sound, where he was wounded and left with a lame left arm.

One night in a fit of passion, he maltreated a surgeon within his own house. He was found guilty of His Majestys articles and discipline of war, and sentenced to be executed. The Duchess of Pomerew and other noble ladies petitioned strenuously to spare his life, and the surgeon forgave the incident, but the execution was carried out at Stettin on orders from the Governor, who was described as a churlish Swede, who would not remit the satisfaction due to his Majesty and justice.

Ref. (1) confuses Andrew with his nephew, Andrew.

George married the daughter of General Scot of Invernethie. He was castaway in company with John Munro younger of Obsdale going to Germany probably in 1634.

"George m Mary dr of Gen Scot of Invernethid yr bro of Thomas of Davidston; year of death uncertain, prob 1634 - Ross and Mackenzie apply this to son John, but original MS clearly refers to George."

Ref. (1) says George's son, John, was a castaway at sea in 1639, in company with John Munro, Younger of Obsdale on their way to Germany, with the intention of entering the Swedish service, but it was probably George, himself, who was the castaway in about 1634.

Before he inherited Fearn, John was known as "of Logie." He was Quarter-Master in the army.

It appears that ref. (1) has confused this person with a cousin, John, son of George. The cousin married Margaret Ross, not this person. The line continues in confusion through the children of these two people.

(cont. 1695) Florence, 7th daughter of Sir George Munro of Newmore [ Ross says Christina, Daughter of Hugh (was their one?) of Culrain ] with issue- George, John, Andrew, David, Rogert, James (living 1736) 'governor' to nephew George Lord Reay (see Andrew (fl1693-94)) as 'younger of Logie', Commissioner of Supply for Ross, 1698. (Sir George was of Culrain & Newmore)

Andrew Munro of Logie was Commissioner of Supply for Ross in 1698. He was still living in 1734.
