Notes:

In 1870, Barney appears on the Newton County, Mississippi census with the household of his older sister, Sarah. He moved with Sarah's family to Texas in 1872 and settled with them near Canton, Texas, and became a farmer.

After Barney's first wife, Ora, died, a neighbor, Tommy Clark, helped him and his six children survive. When he remarried, Barney named one of his children after Mr. Clark.

Eventually, Mr. Clark sold Barney his first farm.

When Essie Cross Monroe died, (Essie was Cleo's sister-in-law) leaving one-week old Estelle, Cleo helped take care of Estelle.

Notes:

James joined the U.S. Army about 1934. He served all during World War II and was stationed in the Islands, Japan, Germany, Terkey, Texas and Oklahoma. He retired from the Army in about 1958 after 24 years of service. He then went to work for Hartford Insurance in Dallas, Texas. He retired again at age 66.

The Mitchell reference says James died in Apr 1990.

Charles Layne Monroe

Notes:

Ruby lived at 408 Meadow Park in Fort Worth, Texas. She was the daughter of Walter Raleigh and Nancy Catherine (Hanes) Moore).

Charles and Ruby were introduced by Charles' cousin, Geraldine (Jerry) Kennedy-5762. Jerry and Ruby were roommates in nursing school in Brady, Texas. Later, Charles and Ruby named one of their daughters, Jerryl, after Jerry.

Charles worked at General Dynamics in California and Texas until his retirement.

He died at home in Fort Worth, Texas in 1982.
