    Notes:

    In 1850, John was living with his parents in Providence, New York.

    The Rev. John Benson Monroe also appears to be called James. He married the daughter of Theodore V. Bishop. He was a "Methodist Episcopal Minister". From 1875 to 1887, he was on probation at nine churches and was finally ordained in 1888. He then served as pastor at six churches from 1888 to 1901. In 1901 he requested supernumary status because of his health. He retired in 1907 and moved to Algona, King Co., Washington for his health.

    Notes:

    John married the daughter of James and Catherine (Sexton) McClellan. He enjoyed playing baseball, bowling and duck hunting. We was good at making things. He adopted the initial "W." and called himself John W. Monroe.

    He worked as a delivery contractor for Sun. When he retired, on 15 Oct 1954, Sun gave him a pension of $60 per month and $1500 for his truck.

    John's father was a Methodist minister, but John did the "unthinkable" - he married a Catholic. This seems to have severed all ties to his family.

    Lorna and Cornelious had 4 children. They both enjoyed golf. Cornelious liket the outdoors and hiking and enjoyed a good cigar. When he retired, he devoted a lot of time to his hobby, lapidary. He had a famous display. His stories enthralled children.

    Lorna was a public school teacher. She earned her degree in Education from UBC.

    Notes:

    John "Lew" was noted for his collection of "junk" and his ability to convert it for use in the classroom or around the home. He spent his life on education, first as a high school teacher and then "retired" to be an administrator. He earned a B.Eng. at UBC in Mechanical Engineering and Education.

    John's first wife, Gladys, finished high school and then entered the convent in Victoria and taught school for five years. Uncertain of becoming a nun, she left and worked in a stock broker's office until she married John. Gladys was the daughter of Henry and ? (O'Neil) Parker.

    After the death of his first wife, John married Helen, a long time friend of the family. Helen eventually developed Alzhimer's Disease and had to be institutionalized at Rosewood Manor.
