    He served for many years as Commissary Depute of Inverness, where he lived.

    [Alexander Munro] «i»Eldest son of John Munro (of Milntown of Alness family) and ______ Clunas; succeeded father as representative of family, probably 1718; Sheriff Clerk of Inverness (later Sheriff Substitute); appointed 21 July 1738 one of the ordinary "doers" and regents of the Lovat family in North of Scotland for life by Simon Lord Fraser of Lovat; unsuccessfully claimed £2,000 Scots compensation for loss of office as Sheriff-Clerk (appointed by Lovat 21 January 1738); combined with the Clerkship of the regality of Lovat under Heritable Jurisdictions Act, 1747; Commissary Depute (1731) - probably the "Commissary of Inverness", one of arbitrators between Lovat and Glenmoriston, 1735/45, and "Commissary Depute of 1739.
