The following is a transcription of RW Munro's genealogy notes:
[Alexander Munro] «i»Eldest son of John Munro (of Milntown of Alness family) and ______ Clunas; succeeded father as representative of family, probably 1718; Sheriff Clerk of Inverness (later Sheriff Substitute); appointed 21 July 1738 one of the ordinary "doers" and regents of the Lovat family in North of Scotland for life by Simon Lord Fraser of Lovat; unsuccessfully claimed £2,000 Scots compensation for loss of office as Sheriff-Clerk (appointed by Lovat 21 January 1738); combined with the Clerkship of the regality of Lovat under Heritable Jurisdictions Act, 1747; Commissary Depute (1731) - probably the "Commissary of Inverness", one of arbitrators between Lovat and Glenmoriston, 1735/45, and "Commissary Depute of 1739. Probably writer in Inverness who was served heir general to brother John writer there in 6 February, 1718; Married in Inverness Catherine (baptized 1702) daughter of Provost Alexander Fraser, Inverness, with issue John (baptized 1721); Robert (1722); Alexander (1724); James (1730); Simon (1741-1790); & 3 daughters Seymour 1723, Elizabeth 1728, & Christian 1734.
