- Andrew was born on the family farm near Lawrence, Michigan.
Upon reaching the age of twenty-one, Andrew began to clear and cultivate tracts of farmland. After selling off some of his land to new settlers, he and his wife moved to South Haven, Michigan. He continued his farming until 1918, when he broke his hip.
