    • Jonathan's family moved from New York to Cassville, Wisconsin when he was four years old. In 1876 he went with his brother Francis to Iowa. He farmed in Buena Vista County and in 1900 went to Phillips, South Dakota and later to Sioux Falls.

      He had no children of his own. His second wife was a widow with seven children.
