- Francis was a hardware merchant in Howell, Michigan. He served as village president in 1875.
On 12 Mar 1877, his store burned down so he moved his family to Duluth, Minnesota. He probably died before 1910, because he was not mentioned in his wife's obituary. She was killed in 1910 "by a car."
