    • Charlotte's first husband, Ephraim Vanberger, was a carpenter for two years and then worked for five years in surveying and examining land. He was a shoemaker until 1862 when he enlisted in the army during the American Civil War. He was captured in Virginia on 11 Jun 1864 and was imprisoned at Andersonville, Georgia and Florence, South Carolina. He was honorably discharged on 11 Jun 1865.

      Charlotte and Ephriam were divorced on 27 Mar 1888.
