| Notes |
- Francis served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. On 16 Dec 1862, he enlisted for three years at Bruce Township, Macomb County, Michigan. He was assigned to Company E, 8th Cavalry as a Corporal. He was wounded in the fighting and never fully recovered. He was mustered out of the service on 26 Jul 1863 and transferred to the Invalid corps on 15 Jun 1864. He eventually died of his wounds in 1890.
