  • Notes
    • Lewis was probably born in Surry or Charleston, New Hampshire.

He married Addie (or Ada) Osgood of Chelsea, Massachusetts. Her family was well know as merchants in Boston. They probably had other children besides the ones that are listed here.

Lewis was a school teacher in Surry, New Hampshire. He later went to Boston, Massachusetts and New York City, New York. He and his wife produced the famous "Munroe Reader" which was used in the public schools around 1880. In Boston, he started teaching elocution, from his sucess this eventually developed into the School of Oratory, of Boston University.

Lewis was a man of excellent tallents, very refined and scholarly.

In 1872, he bought the Myrick place in Dublin, New Hampshire and used it as his summer home until his death in 1879. It was on the old road to Harrisville, New Hampshire. He spent the winters in Chelsea, Massachusetts.
