Notes |
- Guilford was a farmer and a Republican. He was friends with Chief BawBeese, Chief of the Pottawattamie Indians.
"Linus, Guilford's father, pulled a thorne out of the chief's foot that was festering and causing pain." Mrs. Linus Monroe killed a snake 6 feet long. On seeing the snake the Chief said, "Him bit, no get well." (Quotes from the Hillsdale Co. History)
Guilford and his family attended the Methodist Church.
Guilford was known by both friends and relatives in the entire community as "Uncle Guilf."
