    • The following are entries in the Old Parochial Register of Old Machar:

      "31st May 1795 William Monro, weaver in Gilcomston and his spouse Jean Cairns had a son baptized by Mr. James Gregory, minister of the Capel of Ease at Gilcomston and named Joseph. Witnesses Alexander White and William Ross."

      "May 3rd 1816 Joseph Monro in this parish and Elspet Freeman in the parish of St. Nicholas, signified their purpose of marriage by William Bathgate, elder, and after being thrice proclaimed they were married."

      "Joseph Monro, gardener, Stocket, and his spouse, Elspet Freeman had a son born, named James, baptized by the Revd. Dr. Kidd in presence of the congregation."
