Notes |
- John was a watch-maker (clock and watch repair) and was the first on Cape Cod. His patrons were from Falmouth to Provincetown. He first introduced the tall mahogany eight day clocks made by his brothers, Nathaniel, Daniel, and William. Many were still in existence around Barnstable in 1900.
He was responsible for the organization of the Barnstable Savings Bank and was elected its treasurer, a position he held for forty years. When he resigned from the bank its deposits amounted to one and a half million dollars.
His wife was from Barnstable, Massachusetts.
