    • James was a blacksmith who had a shop on Brattle Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was chosen Deacon of the First Church in Cambridge on 2 Aug 1818 and he held the office faithfully for many years. He was a shareholder in the Market Place, now called Winthrop Square.

      He married his cousin, Margaret Watson.
