«i»The 60th wedding anniversary of Paul and Mary Rohe was celebrated on Sunday, June 27, 2010, at All Saints' Episcopal Church, Morristown, Tennessee. The reception, hosted by church friends, was attended by family, friends, and the community.

Paul and Mary, both natives of central Ohio, met at Ohio State University. Mary was a student nurse, and Paul was majoring in radio speech and the NROTC. They graduated in 1949, and were married on June 25, 1950 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Bellefontaine, Ohio.

After the birth of their first two children, John and Jeffrey, Paul went back on active duty in the Navy for 3 years. They lived in Washington, DC for 9 months after which Paul was assigned as Assistant Naval intelligence Officer on the COMNAVPHIL Staff at the US Naval Station, Sangley Point, Philippines. They lived there for 2 1/4 years, and their daughter Kathryn was born there. Back in Columbus, Ohio, after active duty, two more sons, Steven and Michael, were born. Paul then retired from the Naval Reserve as a Lieutenant Commander.

Paul was employed by the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company in Engineering and Sales, and in 1973 he and his family were transferred to Morristown, Tennessee as part of the Chain Division. Thus began their new life in the South.

Mary was employed by a local hospital as a Registered Nurse Supervisor, and Paul continued in his spare time as a Boy Scout leader, rising to District Commissioner. Their younger children, Kathryn, Steven, and Michael, led them into the life of the local theater guild. They all acted and volunteered in a number of dramas, musicals, and comedies.

Paul and Mary heard about the Scottish Highland Games at Grandfather Mountain, N.C., and went for the first time in 1974. They became members of the Clan Munro Association (USA) in 1976. They visited the Gatlinburg Scottish Festival and Games, and eventually became the sponsor of a Clan Munro Tent in 1988. They also joined the Scottish Society of Knoxville (TN). In 1992, they went to their first Annual General Meeting (fortunately it was in Scotland), and have attended every AGM since then. The Rohe's children have also been active in CMA-USA with Steven playing the bagpipes. In addition Michael's wife, Rhonda, Jeffrey and Michael have played their guitars at gatherings. Paul has served on the Board of Directors for 2 years, and Michael is currently on the Board.

Boating, was another interest, developed after Steven and Michael learned to sail in the Boy Scouts. Mary bought a 17-ft racing dingy, one of the famous Thistles, designed and built by a Scot. They joined the Cherokee Lake Sailing Club, racing for 20 years. Paul now has his second 26-ft cabin cruiser, powered by a huge truck engine.

Their love for international travel began in the Navy with trips to the Philippines, China, Guam, and Hawaii. Since then they have been to the British Isles 4 times, Germany, Italy, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Austria, Israel, Egypt, Panama, Mexico, Canada, and Alaska. Their 60 years have been exciting, fun, rewarding and pleasurable.

Besides 5 children, Mary and Paul have 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Now, their principal joint hobby is making wine from their blackberries and grapes. In addition to being tireless workers in CMA-USA as tent hosts, Paul and Mary were honored as volunteers for the year 2009 by the local United Way.«/i»
