New Carlisle United Church Records: 1986 - Died - Laura Thelma (Munro) Hocquard Hamilton, daughter of the late Jesse Munro and Edith Scott; born December 19, 1915 - died at Moncton, N.B. on April 4, 1986. Buried in New Carlisle.

Notes from Raymond Munro, New Carlisle, Quebec, Canada - February 1993: Correct date for Laura's marriage to George Hocquard was December 15, 1943.

Laura and George lived on William G. Munro's old homestead. They had a Dairy Farm in partnership with his brother Wilfred, but some time after George died she gave it up as things were getting out of control. She began doing alterations and sewing, but the other troubles kept getting worse, she was eventually crowded out, and she managed to trade off for a small house and a bit of land across the road. They got all the farm land with buildings plus two wood lots.

Some time around 1968 Linwood Hamilton came to New Carlisle as a Lay supply for the New Carlisle pastoral charge. He became very fond of Laura, and eventually they were married, but in the meantime jealousy set in and soon he was obliged to leave, and of coursae Laura went with him to Moncton. It was rough at first but they both dug in and prospered and bought a home. He did Lay work, had three churches plus being in charge of janitorial work at the Moncton High School. Laura did very well at dressmaking, but Cancer had the final say on April 4, 1986. Linwood then married Laura's best friend (Jean Mitchel) of Dorchester, New Brunswick, but he died within the year of cancer as well.
