      «i»Like her husband, Adaline was a trial to the Presbyterian Church in Mount Pleasant. The Session Records give the following account of her troubles:

      May 8, 1835 -- Resolved that Adaline Munroe be suspended from the communion
      and that Anson Chittendon and [?] Wilcox be a committee to wait on her and converse with her.

      July 7, 1835 -- Resolved that a citation be sent to Mrs. Adaline Muroe «/i»[sic] «i»to appear before the session on the first friday«/i» [sic] «i»in September.

      September 4, 1835 -- Where as the resolution passed in June 5«/i» [??] «i»1835 requesting Mrs. Adaline Munroe to appear before the session did not set forth the charges -- Resolved that a citation be sent to her to appear before the session at the next meeting to answer to the following charges on common fame. Abusive and vulgar language to your sister in the church Philenda Munroe. «/i»[Philinda Monroe was Adaline's sister-in-law, the wife of James Miller's brother, Charles.]«i»

      October 2, 1835 -- Adaline Munroe having been called to appear this time has not answered and the«/i» [matter is held over?]«i» to the next meeting.

      November 1, 1835 -- Mrs. Adaline Munroe not appearing to answer to her citation resolved that she be cited to appear at the session meeting at Deacon A. Chittendon's the first friday «/i»[sic] «i»in February.

      There was no mention of Adaline at the February 1836 meeting.

      April 1, 1836 -- Adaline Munroe not appearing Resolved that Adaline Munroe be excommunicated from the church for contumacy «/i»[?].«i»

      It was scarcely a year later that Miller's troubles occurred. No wonder
      they "Gone West!"«/i»
