  ********** «i»According to the Newspaper Account of his death, Hugh John Crawford was born on August 15th, 1822. According to Ballantrae records he was born on June 21, 1818. The birth record gives his mother's name as Agnes and his father's name as William. His eldest son was named William and his eldest daughter, Agnes. Saturday, July 23, 1892 Ferndale Items -- J. L. CRAWFORD died this morning after a long illness. Funeral Saturday at 3 o'clock. -- July 23, 1892. Tuesday, July 26, 1892 Ferndale Items -- Died, June 21st, in his home in West Ferndale, Mr. John L. CRAWFORD, a native of Ballantree, Ayrshire, Scotland. Mr. CRAWFORD was born in the year 1822, had he lived until the 15th of August, he would have been seventy years old. . . He had been a deacon of the Baptist church here for years . . . . He left a wife and four children, two sons and two daughters . . .
