Notes |
- George entered the Church and on 22 Mar 1703, he was ordered by the General Assembly to be sent to Ross-shire. He received his licence from the Presbytery of Edinburgh in 1704, and was appointed by the following Assembly, on 24 Mar 1704 to go to Sutherland, where he continued until 1706. At that time, he was appointed to the church and parish of Nigg, Easter Ross.
On 13 Sep 1716, he attended a meeting of the Presbytery of Dingwall held at Tain. At a meeting of the Presbytery held at Dingwall on 12 Feb 1717, George was recommended to be transferred to the church and parish of Gairloch, but the letter of presentation did not carry the Crown stamp, and the transfer was never completed.
On 1 May 1718, a meeting of the Presbytery arranged to help George get his church repaired. On 17 Feb 1726, he appears as "Mr George Munro of Culcraggie, minister of Nigg," when he attended at Alness church and voted as a heritor for the appointment of Mr. James Fraser as minister of Alness. He had a new church built in 1727. The valued rental of Culcraggie in Jan 1728 was 83 pounds Scots.
