School, won Carnegie Travelling Scholarship 1925; studied in Paris under Billoull & Lhote, & art master at Loretto Glenalmond; travelled through France, Italy, & North Africa, being held captive in an Arab prison in the Atlas Mountains; from 1932 exhibtitedin Society of Scottish Artists, R.S.A. & Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts exhibitions, & Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours; worked as illustrator for Thomas Waldon (publishers), Edinburgh, member of council, R.S.S.W., 1963-4; R.S.W. 1960; m. 1932 Ruth F. Morwood (artist).
