[Alexander Fraser Munro] «i»Son of Finlay Munro (d. 1837) & Christiana Fraser; b. Dundee 1 November 1815; apprentice printer, attended & taught at Sabbath School of Lindsay Street Chapel, Dundee (Rev. D.K. Shoebotham, pastor); moved to York c. 1840, compositor on 'Yorkshireman' newspaper; member & local preacher of Primitive Methodist Connexion; compositions 'more copious than exact', but won £5 prize for Working Men's Prize Essay on the Sabbath, 'Man's Best Day', 1849 (3rd edn. 1850).
