      The following is a transcription of RW Munro's genealogy notes:

      [Alexander Munro] «i»Son of Finlay Munro (Tollie); subscriber to David Munro's Gaelic translation of Rev. John Welsh's Sermons (1845); tackman/tenant of Greenyards (Braelangwell), Strathcarron (proprietor Major Charles Robertson of Kindeace) in 1854, when he applied to the sheriff for warrants of removal against certain tenants to make room for sheep; after this had led to the 'Massacre of the Rosses' on 31 March he denied having authorised the application, but family tree says 'for him the Clearances took place'; m. -----Ross, Kincardine (living Alness 1900) with issue - Finlay (ship's engineer) & Christina (m. ----Mackay, engineer in Tain, living in London 1900) . (brother William b. 1787). MS says 'Eldest son - took Pollo'.
