      The following is a transcription of RW Munro's genealogy notes:

      [Alexander Munro] «i»Said to have come from John o' Groats, wife from Mossel Bay, South Africa; discharged from 93rd Highlanders, 1 July 1817, permission to remain in Cape Colony; married at George to Martha Maria Boshoff, 6 Dec 1815 (or 1818); children incl. William Charles, Alexander Peter, Daniel, James Jacobus, John, & Augustus (sic), Benjamin, Bland (? 1842-1927). On 2 December 1836 with Thomas Purser at Mossel Bay took inventory of effects of Robert Carey, alias William Brown, drowned at sea when his whaleboat upset in False Bay. See 'Munro's Bay'.
