The following is a transcription of RW Munro's genealogy notes:
[Alexander Munro] «i»Piper, 2nd 78th Highlanders; in the assault on Merscem (Merksem), near Antwerp, on 13 January 1814, he "was wounded & unable to stand", but "sat where he fell & played 'Johnnie Cope' & the 'Highland Laddie' with the spirit of a true Caledonian"; his name was brought to the notice of the Highland Society.
