The following is a transcription of RW Munro's genealogy notes:
«i»a letter endorsed as being from«/i» [Alexander Monro] «i» 'an old soldier of the 25th Regt' dated 4 March 1786 & probably to Gen. Melville, asked him to sign a recommendation 'as it will get me some cloathing' - 'shall never trouble your Honor any more' - letter preserved in Melville MSS in NLS.
NLS Melville MSS reference MS 9846 fol 1 - first in large volume of bound letters.
