      The following is a transcription of RW "Billy" Munro's genealogy notes:

      [Alexander Munro] «i»Son of John Munro, Inverness (stonemason in Sutherland); born Inverness, 26 October 1825, artisitic abilities discovered by the Duchess of Sutherland (wife of second Duke), worked on heraldic mantlepieces in Dunrobin Castle - went to London 1848 and was employed on stone carving for the new House of Parliament; exhibited Royal Academy from 1849 onwards; main work was portrait - sculpture, especially in relief; attacked by lung disease, he went to Cannes, where died 1 January 1871, having married ___ Carruthers (died 1872), with issue, two sons - John Arthur Ruskin (born 1864, died 1944) and Henry Alexander (born 1865).
