The following was written by Allison Monroe Bilbao, the daughter of Jess Albert Monroe, in 2007:

      «i»In Tribute to My Dad

      Jess Albert Monroe
      March 2, 1906 - April 19, 1987«/i»

«i»Dad would be 101 years old today! I am so proud of this honest and successful man...an extraordinary person with the insightful approach to understanding, acceptance, and learning from intense life events in ways that bring understanding, comfort and peace to all that knew him. Believing in himself and a higher power was extremely powerful; he shared that with family and friends.

This man from a pioneer family with a small farm in Kansas somehow made it to Kansas State College during the "Great Depression" and "Dust Bowl" years. With the lack of financial support, he could only attend two years; however, he managed to get to California in 1935. There he started a company known as Monroe Electric Service. Thank you dad, for being a part of my Life! You made me proud to be a Monroe.«/i»
