  • Notes
    • The following obituary was published in the Yakima Herald-Republic on 27 Sep 2004:

Yakima - Shirley M. Waters, age 79 of Yakima, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, September 24, 2004.

Shirley was born July 25, 1925 in Yelm, Washington to William & Slyvia (Foster) Monroe. She was raised and educated in Selah. Shirley married her high school sweetheart Richard (Dick) Waters on December 30, 1943. They spent all of their married life in Yakima. She and her husband owned and operated Dick's Donut Shop on Nob Hill Blvd. for several years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary William Wharton Post #379.

Shirley was proud of her military contributions driving a fork lift during the war while Dick was in the Navy.

Besides family she enjoyed small things like the moring trip for her mocha, and a drive in the country with Dick.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and four sisters: Evelyn, Helen, Catherine, and Willa.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard; three daughters, Karen Grimsley (Jim Edgerton) of Renton, Kathy Waters (Wayne Gohl) of Yakima, and Kandy (Pat) Parsons of Yakima; two sisters, Harriet Hansen of Puyallup and Josephine Johnson of Tacoma; five grandchildren, Kent (Darci) Schwartzenberger, Doug (Lisa) Schwartzenberger, Karey (Paul) Lukas, Roni (Kevin) Rivard, and Kris Posey. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren: Taylor, Ryker, Josh, Royce, Ryan, Dylan, Adam and Piper.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004 at Keith and Keith Terrace Heights Chapel. Interment will follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday from 4 to 8PM at Keith and Keith Funeral Home on Ninth Avenue.
