- He is found with his mother and brother on the 1900 census of Van Zandt County, Texas. It is presumed that his father died before then.
After his mother's death, Luther and his brother, William, moved to San Angelo, Texas where they ran a store.
Both brothers had died suddenly by 1943. Their uncle, Jefferson D. Monroe, stayed on and ran the store until he took ill.
