  	Nathaniel was killed when the Army transport plane he was flying in crashed while landing at Dubrovnik airport in Croatia. He was present as a reporter for the New York Times, travelling with a group of corporate executives who were guests of Ron Brown, US Secretary of Commerce. They were surveying war-torn Bosnia-Herzogovina to plan how reconstruction could be accomplished. All on board were killed.
