Notes |
- He was living in Beekman, Dutchess County, New York "since 1733". He led the squatters in a 1765 uprising against the landowners. In Mar 1765 he was arrested along with Daniel Munrow [8646] and put in the New York City jail until late 1767.
Samuel was a born trouble-maker who "infested" Dutchess from the early 1730's. He lived in Beekman, New York, and most of the charges against him were for unpaid debts. One was for another violence, and is a charge brought by a woman.
Samuel turns up in the list of loyalists whose property was confiscated.
