  	Obituary from Chesaning Semi-Weekly News dated 9 Apr 1901: ETERNAL REST - AFTER A LONG ILLNESS (TWO) MORE ANSWER THE CALL. (THERE WAS ANOTHER DEATH RELATED) MRS. THOMAS MONROE SUCCESSFULLY TRAVERSED LIFE'S JOURNEY DIED: Mrs. Thomas D. Monroe, aged 26 years, 10 months and 23 days, at her late home southeast of town Saturday evening at 7 o'clock. The many friends of Mrs. Monroe will be saddened to learn of her death so early in life when it would seem that her presence was most needed in her home and in the care of her little daughter [Mable], but such was not to be and the tired body laid down life's burden while still in her youth. Murilla Skinner was born 17 May 1875 in Oneida Township, Eaton County, Michigan, where she spent the days of her childhood. In Oct 1891, she was united in marriage to Thomas D. Monroe after which they moved to Maple Grove and resided there until two years ago when they moved to their present home 3 1/3 miles east of town. Mrs. Monroe was unusually well liked at the places she had lived, always ready with a pleasant work and smile, never with frowns. Hers was a lovable disposition, which received a high tribute in the praise of her neighbors, friends and acquaintances. She has for a long time past suffered ill health, the last 15 weeks of which she has been the greater portion of the time confined to her bed. In spite of it all, no murmuring or complaining was heard from her and the end came in a very peaceful manner; she closed her eyes in that long sleep that knows no awakening. Deceased leaves besides her husband, and little six year old daughter, Mable, an aged father of Grand Ledge, her mother having died about a year ago, and two brothers, William M. and Martin J. of Grand Ledge. The funeral was held at the M. E. Church this morning at 10 o'clock under the auspices of the Gleaners and Rev. W.G. Nixon officiated. Interment was made in Wildwood.
