- Richard Swanson was born in Caro, Michigan and grew up in Vassar, Michigan. Both Vassar and Caro are located in Tuscola County. His Vassar home was located on N. Main Street and his backyard ran down to the Moore Drain, a tributary of the Cass River.
He graduated from Albion College, a small liberal arts college in Albion, Michigan, about 100 miles southwest of Vassar. He earned the DDS degree at the University of Michigan. He held licences to practice in Michigan, Florida, North Carolina and Arizona.
After graduation from dental school, he moved his wife and son to Florida and built a home in Lake Worth and resided there until 1995. His home was on Duke Drive in Lake Worth and his office was on Lucerne Avenue. After retiring from his practice, he spent most of his time in Linville, North Carolina, and the winter in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
