- In 1793, Captain Henry (or Harry) Fisher settled in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
During the War of 1812, he and two of his sons moved to the Red River Settlement in Manitoba, Canada and became traders for the Hudson Bay Company. He became a successful fur trader in Wisconsin and Manitoba.
He married the daughter of Claude Charles and Madeleine Pashal (Chevalier) Gauthier de Verville.
