• Notes

  George and his family sailed from Aberdeen, Scotland on the ship "Good Intent" in 1815 and took two to three months passage before arriving in Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada. They were among several families aboard the "Good Intent" sho settled in Caribou, Pictou Co., Nova Scotia. They lived first on the mainland. In Nov 1833, George bought Little Caribou Island, later known as Munro's Island and containing three hundred acres, from Thomas Dickson, Esq. George was a farmer and a ship builder. His will was recorded in Pictou in 1853. His son, George, Jr., administered his father's estate.
