- There is a controversy over whether Hannah married Thomas Chaffe or Thomas Chase. The uncertainty arises because of the similarity between the old way of writing "s" and "f". Thomas Chafee was Hannah's brother-in-law since her sister, Sarah married Amos Chaffe, Thomas's brother.
Even the marriage date is disputed. The marriage to Thomas Chaffe is said to be 7 Dec 1780 at Rehoboth, Massachusetts; and the marriage to Thomas Chase is said to be 8 Feb 1781.
The Munro reference gives Hannah's birthdate as 8 Nov 1776.
