  Bert moved to Winter Park, Florida in 1957, to Atlanta, Georgia in 1966, and in 1973, he moved to Belleair, Florida, where he lived at 440 Poinsettia Road. He graduated from the University of Florida in Gainesville. He retired as a Vice-President from Universal Building Specialties, Lakeland, Florida and was a former director of First South Savings Bank in Holiday, Florida. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Clearwater where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, and the Salvation Army, Clearwater Corps, where he served on the Board of Directors. He was also a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity Alumni Association, University of Florida, and a life member of the Clan Mu;nro Association.
